Hi! I’m Laurel, the founder of Feel Fit with Laurel.
Like the majority of people, I have experienced my own personal journey working on my health and fitness goals. Growing up in the 90’s, I often felt I did not fit into society’s idea of health, (low carb diet fads and thin bodies) which left me with little body confidence into my early 20’s. I never envisioned that I would ever feel content with my body and came to accept that negative self-talk as my constant norm. Fast forward to 2014, when a close friend encouraged me to try a group fitness class. However terrified I was, that one step set in motion what has become a life-changing career and journey in fitness.
After 6 months of religiously taking that group class, I saw changes in my muscles and started feeling stronger and more body positive. I felt called to help share my new found passion and proceeded to get my certification to teach group fitness classes! My first step in sharing fitness as my passion was underway. As I taught weekly group fitness classes I realized I wanted a more personal approach to helping others achieve their fitness goals. This is when I attained my NCCPT certification as a personal trainer and, more recently, my NCSF certification. Becoming a personal trainer has allowed me to create workout programs that are personal to my clients’ goals, coach proper form, and modify intensity.
As I worked as a personal trainer at a big box gym I started researching macronutrients (Carbohydrates, Protein, and Fat) in my spare time and began to truly understand what an enormous role nutrition plays in body composition. I had always thought I ate a healthy diet but I was consistently frustrated with my lack of progress in reaching my weight-loss goals. The knowledge and experience I have now, allows me to assist each client with THEIR specific challenges surrounding weight-loss goals.
Over the years, navigating my clients’ and my own personal health-related goals has taught me the importance of finding the correct path for each individual body. Watching my clients succeed is by far one of the most rewarding things I get to witness and remains as my ‘why’ behind what I do. It is my passion to help you find your true potential. The mental and physical changes do not happen overnight, but I cannot wait to help streamline your results and support you in reaching ALL of your health and fitness goals.
